A person’s physical as well as mental health is very important. There are many people who look perfect apparently but they are suffering from some mental disease or illness.

What a mental illness is? A mental illness or disorder is defined as a condition or situation in an individual which is marked by some distress, depression, or disability and is apart from the modes of normal development patterns and culture. The mental disorders are taken to be the brain disorders particularly which are a result of the complicated interaction of the genetics and experience of an individual. Many people living in various parts of the world are suffering from the mental disorders like personality disorders, eating disorders, mood disorders, social anxiety, addiction to drugs, obsessive compulsive disorders and other psychotic disorders. The people going through the trauma of such mental diseases do not need to worry as there are reasonable treatment options to cure the diseases with psychotherapies, medications and other treatment policies.

The cause of the mental disorders has not yet been clearly defined.  They can be caused due to the genetic defenselessness which is a result of environmental changes. The most active cause is the neglect of the children and the child abuse during their developmental phase. In the young females also, the child sexual harassment is the key role in developing mental illnesses like personality disorders and eating disorders. The genes are responsible for the cause of many mental disorders. Other traumatic and depressing life experiences also lead to these diseases. Other conditions like lack of employment, inappropriate socioeconomic situation and the problem of migration can also become responsible for the development of mental illness and trauma.

The mental disorders are diagnosed either by the psychiatrists or clinical physicians. The physician can have a conversation session and diagnose the sufferer’s problem by his self reported condition, symptoms and his current life issues. The friends, relatives and other known people can also be consulted to come up with the real problem and to treat the problem accurately.

There are many types of mental disorders that would need a lot of energy to be explained. Different conditions of an individual are termed as a mental illness some of which are discussed here. There are anxiety disorders, childhood disorders, eating disorders, mood disorders, cognitive disorders, personality disorders, substance related disorders and other psychotic disorders. These are the generalized names of categories of the disorders. A further type of each of the category of disorders is also there. For example the types of anxiety disorders are acute stress disorder, panic disorder, social phobia, post traumatic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and specific phobia. People who react inappropriately to some situations or are fearful of something are diagnosed with this type of mental disorder. An accelerated rate of heart beat along with nervousness in any situation also indicates the symptoms of the anxiety disorders.

Personality disorder is diagnosed in a person whose thinking modes and behaviors are strange, whimsical and they disturb the normal functioning of the individual. His/her personality traits are very rigid and not flexible. The paranoid personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, histrionic personality disorder and obsessive-compulsive personality disorder are the types of personality disorders.
