Health Care Tips
It may come as no surprise that a lot of people worry about their health. This is perfectly understandable – people link the very worst of fears and other bad things to it. In practice, of course, there are people who make a living providing healthcare services, doing medical research etc. – they should all be willing to offer their own health tips. (By the way, don’t be duped by “pseudoscience” and wishful thinking – when in doubt, just remember that science requires that information be exchanged freely).
Health tips is a broad subject, not least because people like to look to celebrities almost as much as their GP’s for what ideas and information they can pass on. Let’s begin with the obvious things: exercise is always good for you. People never stop reminding you that as a child; and, quite frankly, it seems that they won’t stop reminding you of it when you’re an adult either! Stamina is by no means linked exclusively to workouts and such; but feeling strong and flexible is also inextricably woven with the idea of “fighting fit”. Of course, exercising too much and putting too much strain on yourself in never a good idea…
Now we move onto diet. I’m sure I’m not the only one well aware that most foods seem to fall into either of two categories: those that are good for you, and those that are bad for you. At a glance, “good” foods include fruit and vegetables, next to bread, cereals and dairy products – there is no excuse for forgetting that “good” foods (natural stuff) are usually always the cheapest (and the most wholesome and filling). “Bad” foods are usually those that have little to no nutritional value anyway – think confectionery. And just because chocolate qualifies as a dairy product does not mean that eating enough of it does not pose a health risk (it is the same with cheese).
Continuing on the “food” discussion: people say you should aim to eat 5 samples of fruit and / or vegetables a day, if you can. And while many know meats to be rich in protein, eating red meat is always dangerous – cook it well enough! And then there’s allergies; know also that there are some foods that can pose a health risk to certain people due to those certain people suffering from specific diseases. People can eat too much for their own good, but they can also eat too little for their own good (which is why so many people get worried about Posh Spice these days).
Besides food and exercise, more and more people become vocal about mental health at a younger age, it seems to me. Of the top of my head I list self-loathing and worrying too much as causes of mental health problems.
