An Overview of Supplements
Just for a moment, sit back and think about how much health knowledge and awareness has progressed. When it came to healing diseases and ailments, there used be a time when people felt compelled to put all their faith in a shaman, or a jungle witch doctor, or the supernatural (as did the Greeks with the Aesculapian temple). When you remember that, does it really fail to come as something of a shock that so many of us take clean water for granted (these days, all you have to do is turn a tap – and you can get it hold or cold!)? Or that we didn’t all get vaccinated against tetanus, dipthera or polio when we were kids?
Not that you strictly need to talk to a doctor to learn about the most modern advances in medical science. In fact, you don’t even have to walk into a surgery, pharmacy or hospital in the search for something that will surely help you to feel like a million dollars. Supplements are all these rave these days – if you know how to take them, as well as what they do, and where you can get them, and what could make them lose their potency.
One category of supplements is that of common vitamins – they may come in tablet form, capsule or drops form, or powder form. Sometimes they only work at their best when they are taken with meals. It is not an impossibility that you could be in some sort of urgent need for supplements: for example, orange juice is famed for its Vitamin C content; which prevents scurvy and helps to maintain good eyesight.
Most people who receive email will also tell stories of spam, but that’s other story… yes, this paragraph is about those supplements that serve as sexual stimulants. Viagra and Cialis contain hormones – although not all sexual stimulant supplements are created inside a laboratory environment. To wit: every once in a while the media devotes a lot of attention to the latest “super food”; for example, the acai berry.
About the acai berry: it is because the acai berry has such a high antioxidant content that they say it is capable of treating all kinds of diseases – as well as producing younger looking skin, improving digestion, generating better eyesight and a few other things. The acai berry is, in short, no ordinary food – and those that market it claim that is great for boosting sexual libido as well.
There are also a lot of professional athletes who can be quite vocal about supplements – and not just the things mentioned above. There are things available for weight and muscle gain.
So, the “best” supplements? The acai berry and GABA (Gamma-Aminobutryic Acid – a substance known for its muscle building effects) belong to that list.
